I joined the Muncie Symphony League shortly after finishing grad school, initially as a volunteer, designing flyers for some of the organization's events. After working with board members on a few events, I was invited to join the board, and gladly took that opportunity to get further involved. Once on the board I cycled through various roles, becoming the Secretary for a term, and eventually, President.

Throughout that time, I got some great practical experience with running meetings, courting sponsors, and organizing events for our membership. It was also a great opportunity to try out and grow my graphic design and branding skills.

One of my first projects was a subtle redesign of the MSL logo. All the original vector files had been long lost, if they ever existed at all, and all that was left were some relatively low resolution raster images not fit for print. I redrew the logo, and included a classic Didot font that became a part of the organization's identity, and I then used it on letterheads, applications, email headers, and other mailings to help create a unified, cohesive graphic presence.

Possibly my largest and most intense project with the MSL was the creation of our annual "Andante" 5k. From designing the course and figuring out the logistics of how to petition the Muncie street department for a road closure permit, to identifying sponsors and promoting them across our social media platforms, I learned an incredible amount. Being being personally fulfilling, perhaps more importantly both years so far, the event has been a commercial success for the orchestra, raising well over a thousand dollars each year.
